Ranchers generally raise cattle although there are ranchers who raise sheep and other types of animals as well and are still referred to as ranchers. At any rate, they generally have a ranch out in the country that consists of quite a bit of land on which they run their animals.

They have to round up the animals to do branding, vaccinations and to separate the ones they will sale from the ones they will keep. This often involves the use of horses, or more recently, four-wheelers. So, as you can see, there are a number of things that might make good Christmas gifts for ranchers.

Ranchers can always use fencing materials and supplies as Christmas gifts for ranchers because lots of fence mending goes on at a ranch. Portable corrals are also nice Christmas gifts for ranchers because they are handy for separating cattle that are injured or need special care and attention.

Vaccination and medication supplies are usually purchased from a veterinary supply house. although most ranchers take care of their own medical care for their cattle, they need the veterinarian supplies to do it, so gift certificates to a veterinary supply store are thoughtful and practical Christmas gifts for ranchers.

When round-up time comes around ranchers usually have lots of help with the round-up and they have lots of hungry cowboys to feed. Serving breakfast and lunch at a roundup is not uncommon and real cowboys don't usually settle for cold cereal.

Homemade biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon and eggs are a typical roundup breakfast with things like brisket, potatoes, veggies, and of course homemade rolls and lots of dessert for lunch. So cooking supplies and durable but not-so-fancy serving platters and bowls are wonderful Christmas gifts for ranchers.

Fun Fact: A 'section' of land is equivalent to 640 acres. The size of a ranch is usually stated in sections.

Ranch house decor is usually country-like with leather, wood, rod iron, rope and such. Collectible country-style art and prints by artists such as Bev Doolittle are wonderful Christmas gifts for ranchers.
